New Year, New You: 5 New Year’s Skin Resolutions to Make Now

We can attain the glowing, youthful skin we want by moisturizing our skin, shielding it from the sun, following our skincare regimen, getting adequate rest, and leading a healthy lifestyle

As we start a new year, let’s put our skin’s health first and incorporate these skin-related resolutions into our daily self-care regimen.

It’s that time of the year when we start waving our hands to welcome 2024 and bid farewell to 2023. Hoping that 2024 brings growth and love for our carriers as well as our skin too.

Dr Aseem Sharma, Consultant Dermatologist, Re’equil India’s advisor shares five skin resolutions that will give your 2024 a good start.

Resolution 1: Daily Skincare Routine

Sticking to your skincare routine consistently can only yield your desired results, and the three major products you must have in your skincare routine are a cleanser, a toner, and a moisturizer, according to your own skin type.

  1. Cleanser: Incorporate a gentle yet effective cleanser into your skincare routine that not only removes dirt & excess oil from your skin but also retains the essential moisture in it.
  2. Toner: Are you someone who skips toner in their skincare routine, then you should know that the right toner can do wonders for your skin. Incorporate a gentle alcohol-free toner into your skincare regime.
  3. Moisturizers: One of the most important elements to achieving soft, smooth, & plump skin is by using the right moisturizer, even if you have oily skin, it needs a moisturizer.

Resolution 2: Sunscreen, Sunscreen, Sunscreen

Sunscreen is your first line of defense when it comes to protection from sun damage, and did you know that sun damage is one of the leading causes of skin ageing.

Therefore, before getting out in the sun, make sure you apply sunscreen in an adequate quantity to all your exposed skin.

SPF, or Sun Protection Factor, is the ability of sunscreen to protect you against sun damage.

Make sunscreen a daily habit.

Resolution 3: Hydration for Healthy Glow

Getting hydrated from within is as important as using a moisturizer. Beauty comes from within.

Making a resolution to drink at least 8 glasses of water will help your body flush out all the harmful toxins from within, which is the key to living a healthier life.

If your body is not hydrated properly from within, it will show its effect on your skin, but if your body is hydrated from within, your skin cell regeneration will boost, leaving a happy, hydrated, & plump skin behind.

Resolution 4: Say Yes to Clean Eating for Clear Skin

A healthy stomach results in a happy mind, skin, & body.

Intake of processed, unhealthy, and spicy food can disturb your metabolism and, hence, result in a disturbed mindset, skin, and body.

Try incorporating a healthy diet that includes a portion of raw vegetables or fruits into every meal.

Resolution 5: Sleep: Get Your Beauty Rest

If you want to wake up with a fresh, glowing complexion, prioritizing quality sleep is essential. During sleep, your body repairs and rejuvenates, including your skin cells. Follow these tips to optimize your beauty sleep:

Aim for 7-9 hours of uninterrupted sleep every night.

Create a soothing bedtime routine to signal your body that it’s time to wind down.

Invest in a silk pillowcase to minimize friction and help prevent sleep lines and hair breakage.
